Burrator Outdoor Education Sessions
Burrator Class have taken part in a range of outdoor education sessions, some of which have enhanced their learning in other subject areas and others have served to develop their understanding of their local natural environment and learn about how to protect it. Crealy
Following the fantastic efforts of the Enterprise Fete, Burrator pupils decided to donate some of the money raised to the British Heart Foundation, with the remainder being used to pay for a class trip to Crealy. Everyone had a wonderful day, despite feeling a bit sick after being on the some of the rides!
Bikeability
Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 took part in Bikeability sessions with Gideon, our cycling instructor. Pupils took part in five sessions during the week to build their confidence in cycling and in road safety.
Torbay and Devon Civic Award
Pupils in Year 6 have had the opportunity to work towards the Torbay and Devon Civic Award by completing a number of community-based activities in their own time. Greece Lightning
Pupils in Burrator Class worked alongside a theatre company to create a ‘play in a day’ – Greece Lightning which was all about life in Ancient Greece. The children spent a few days perfecting the show, which was then performed for the rest of the school and parents/carers.
Enterprise Fete 2017
Each pupil in Burrator Class was handed £5 at the start of the week and given the challenge of working as a team to generate a profit from their money at the school Enterprise Fete. Burrator Class Activities Week 2017
Pupils in Burrator Class had an activities week based on the theme of ‘Healthy Living’. The week was involved participation in a range of events from sports to cookery. Take a look at our presentation by clicking on the link to find out more: Burrator Activities Week 2017.
French
Burrator class brought French lessons to life with their work on food. Pupils made their own ‘crepes’ and practiced their French skills by placing orders for their food.
Marine Biologist for a day
Aspiring scientists from Burrator Class were invited to the Royal Citadel laboratory at the Plymouth Citadel. Four pupils took part in a range of activities similar to those carried out by Marine Biologists at the laboratories. Activities included identifying plankton, using the library, fish dissection and learning about the importance of sustainable fishing methods.
Science Week
As part of science week, some pupils from Burrator came to the Marine Biology Day at Citadel Laboratory in Plymouth.
