Marine Biologist for a day
Aspiring scientists from Burrator Class were invited to the Royal Citadel laboratory at the Plymouth Citadel. Four pupils took part in a range of activities similar to those carried out by Marine Biologists at the laboratories. Activities included identifying plankton, using the library, fish dissection and learning about the importance of sustainable fishing methods.
Warburton’s Visit
Staff from Warburton’s bread came to visit Meldon Class. Pupils tasted different types of bread and also had a go at making their own bread!
Science Week
As part of science week, some pupils from Burrator came to the Marine Biology Day at Citadel Laboratory in Plymouth.

On our welly walk, we found a Giant’s pencil…we had to write our names in the mud!
Chinese New Year
Meldon Class celebrated Chinese New Year with a special Chinese meal. Pupils tasted Chinese noodles, rice and prawn crackers – yummy! They also carried out lots of other activities to celebrate the Year of the Rooster.
Dogs Trust
Stacey, from the Dogs Trust, came to talk to Meldon Class about being ‘Dog Smart’. The session included remembering to ask the owner before stroking a dog, learning how to approach a dog and what to do if you are worried about a dog’s behaviour.

Pokemon Club
Venford pupils have been enjoying the new Pokemon club, which was organised by a Year 6 pupil as part of his Civic Award.
