Pupils from Venford, Fernworthy and Burrator all took part in our annual Carol Service in Buckfast Abbey Church. Each class also led a special Crib Blessing in each of the parish churches during December. Our Art Club kindly made sheep and angels to decorate the cribs with.

Pupils at St Mary’s were invited to participate in a special live nativity at Pennywell which was filmed by the BBC for an episode of Songs of Praise.

To celebrate the harvest of apples from our school orchard, St Mary’s held an Apple Day where children took part in apple tasting activities and used an apple press to produce their own apple juice. Each class also produced printed artwork around the theme of apples.

Pupils from Venford Class joined with other schools to take part in a multi-skills tournament.  The morning was a real success as pupils enjoyed meeting new people and learning new skills.    

Pupils in Venford designed and created their own scarecrow from recycled materials and entered this in the Devon County Show.

Venford visited Dawlish Warren to find out more about the different mini-beasts who live in the warren and also in the pond there. Fernworthy, Burrator and Venford Classes have all prepared learning afternoons. The children shared their learning through teaching others about what they have recently learnt. Fernworthy ran a Roman afternoon, where they demonstrated a Roman battle march and even had also had special Roman food to try!
