Cop Cards
Pupils at St Mary’s are participating in the Teignbridge council initiative called Cop Cards. Local community police officer, Tamsin Cambell-Mosely visited the children to launch the sticker albums. Sports Relief and Rowcroft Fundraiser
The school councillors designed and organised the school’s obstacle course which was completed by all pupils and some staff, in return for a donation to raise money for Sports Relief and Rowcroft Hospice, charities selected by the school council this year. Christmas Carol Service
All pupils took part in a Carol Service with readings, carols and a tableau of the nativity in Buckfast Abbey. The pupils had learnt a number of carols for the service, have a listen to how beautifully the children sounded in the Abbey.
Remembrance Day Parade
Pupils from St Mary’s took part in the Remembrance Day parade in Bovey Tracey as part of 1st Heathfield St Catherine’s Scout Group.
Children in Need
The school councillors decided that they would organise a ‘Wear your onesie to school’ day to help raise money for Children in Need. The day was a huge success and raised a lot of money for very worthy charity.
CAFOD
Simon Giarchi from CAFOD came into school to talk to the children about the charity’s work overseas and to thank them for their fund raising efforts. Members of the school council presented Simon with the money raised by parents and children, which would be put to good use in many different countries around the world.
Harvest Celebration
The school held a successful Harvest Celebration, with sixty-five adults attending the afternoon event. £158 was raised for CAFOD as a result of selling food donated by parents and food which had been prepared by the pupils. St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Open Day
A very successful Open Day was held this term which began in the morning with Mass and was followed by an open afternoon with around fifty visitors being welcomed to St Mary’s. Congratulations to our gardeners who grew Garvineas for the Hampton Court Flower Show. Here is a selection of the plants that our ‘green-fingered’ pupils produced.
Road Safety Skills
Police Community Support Officer Tamzin Campbell-Mosely visited St Mary’s to carry out road safety talks with all of the pupils. The children benefited from role playing some of the situations that they may encounter when crossing the road and even got to sit in a police car and try out the siren!
