Working with Devon’s Early Help for Metal Health (EH4MH) Team, Year 5 pupils have been with Melody from EH4MH to train to become Mental Health Ambassadors. It’s OK to be different week
St Mary’s hosted an ‘It’s OK to be different week’, based on the book of the same name by Todd Parr. During the week, each class read a different text to focus their work. Online Safety
Pupils took part in the Safer Internet Day activities again this year. The theme this year was ‘Together for a better internet.’ Pupils thought about how to stay safe online, as well as thinking about specific programs and apps and how these should be used safely.
NSPCC Speak Out, Stay Safe Campaign
Collette from the NSPCC visited St Mary’s as part of their ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ campaign. Pupils took part in an assembly and workshops. Charity Cake Sale
One of our Year 6 pupils, as part of her Civic Award work, ran a cake stall after school to raise money for a Down’s syndrome Charity, DownSouth.
Visit from community dental nurse
Pupils learnt how to look after their teeth effectively, following a visit from the community dental nurse.
Local PCSO visits St Mary’s
Local PCSO, James Yates, visited St Mary’s and talked to the children in Meldon Class to tell them about how the police help the local community.

Bikeability
Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 took part in Bikeability sessions with Gideon, our cycling instructor. Pupils took part in five sessions during the week to build their confidence in cycling and in road safety.
