Beep Beep Day
In conjunction with Brake, the road safety charity, pupils at St Mary’s took part in a special Beep Beep! Day to raise an awareness of road safety. Pupils across the school took part in lots of different activities to teach them about the road safety.
Enterprise Fete 2017
Each pupil in Burrator Class was handed £5 at the start of the week and given the challenge of working as a team to generate a profit from their money at the school Enterprise Fete. How to be Dog Smart
Stacey, from the Dogs Trust, came to talk to all of the pupils about being ‘Dog Smart’. The session included remembering to ask the owner before stroking a dog, learning how to approach a dog and what to do if you are worried about a dog’s behaviour.
Venford’s Superheroes
Our topic this half term has been about heroes. Doctor Kate came to visit us and talked about how she helps people. Doctor Kate showed us her stethoscope and how to listen to other people’s hearts. She also measured our lung capacity. Big breath!
Bikeability Scheme 2016
Children in Year 5 and Year 6 took part in essential bike safety sessions this year, developing their awareness of road safety. Pupils took part in four sessions with instruction Gideon Hodder and achieved the Bikeability Level 1 and Level 2 Award. Parliamentary visit
Pupils in Fernworthy and Burrator Class enjoyed hearing from a visiting speaker , Ros Birch, who is Parliament’s Education Outreach Officer for the South West. Fire Pit
In addition to the mud kitchen that was suggested by our School Councillors, they also had the idea of creating a Fire Pit to use for cooking and outdoor education sessions.
