Working with the Education department at the Abbey, pupils created some ‘wildlife friendly’ places for a number of living things in our school grounds.

A group of pupils from Burrator had some intensive library training from Carolyn, one of the Devon School librarians. Pupils learnt how to catalogue and scan books out of the school system. Pupils in Year 5 and 6 again took part in their annual enterprise project to set up their own business and earn money, from an initial investment of just £5. Burrator class benefited from a six hour first aid course organised and delivered by Sue from St John’s Ambulance. The day involved learning about what should be in a first aid kit, how to communicate with a patient, choking, treating wounds, chest compressions and how to put someone in the recovery position.

Buckfastleigh swimming pool has been used by the community for many years but as it became rather dilapidated, the facility faced closure as after Teignbridge District Council announced it could not afford to run it.
