Partial Solar Eclipse 2015

Pupils at St Mary’s were lucky enough to view the partial eclipse, using special eclipse viewers. Although the morning started off cloudy, the clouds broke and the whole school were treated to a spectacular view of the eclipse. African Gardening Project

St Mary’s has linked with a school in Uganda, through the Devon Development Education centre. This project looks at what children in Uganda and children in Devon have in common – a school garden which needs planning and taking care of. Fernworthy Football Sessions

Body Language Dance Festival

Year 5 and 6 pupils again performed at South Dartmoor Community College’s Body Language Dance festival. This year the theme was ‘Coast and Moor’ and pupils from St Mary’s took the concept of coastal erosion to base their dance upon. Badminton

Pupils enjoyed participating in a number of badminton sessions, with badminton coach Zoe Hills from the South Dartmoor Sports Partnership. Many of the children hadn’t played the game before so enjoyed learning new skills to control the shuttle and racket and also managed to play some small sided games.
