Venford’s Fab Lab workshop
Pupils in Venford class also experienced a Fab Lab workshop, in partnership with the Plymouth College of Art. Buddy and Peer Mediator Training
Along with pupils from a number of other primary schools locally, three of our lunchtime ‘buddies’ and ‘peer mediators’ attended training at Stover School to offer support and fresh ideas in their lunchtime roles. BMX Team
Sixteen pupils attended the BMX sessions at Decoy skate park, in conjunction with the South Dartmoor Sports Partnership. Justin Knox , the instructor who led the six sessions with pupils aged between 6 and 11 years old, helped to develop the chidren’s skills and confidence using a BMX bike.
RSPB Birdwatch
St Mary’s pupils took part in the RSPB Schools’ Birdwatch this year. Having positioned the feeders in a prime spot, several pupils took turns to observe the feeder and make a note of which types of birds visited. Christmas Cantata
Pupils at St Mary’s led the annual carol service in the Abbey Church at Buckfast. This year the carol service took the form of a cantata, retelling the Christmas story. Star For Christmas Choir Competition
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Buckfast entered BBC Radio Devon’s ‘Star for Christmas’ choir competition which was open to all primary schools in Devon and was selected as one of the eight finalists.
