Fernworthy class were lucky enough to spend a morning with Calligrapher Ruth Hodges linked to their Anglo-Saxon topic. The children learnt all about the history of early writing from the Anglo-Saxon period and how the monks and script writers wrote on vellum using quill pens. Pupils then tried out some calligraphy for themselves, using a range of different materials. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and soon realised how difficult writing must have been for the Anglo-Saxons.
