Congratulations to all of the pupils at St Mary’s who entered the CPRE Writing Competition this year – the school was awarded best overall school for the second year running.
Pupils were asked to say why they think its important to protect Devon’s countryside.
Ayrton was the CPRE’s overall winner for Key Stage 1. He wrote:
Devon is a rural area. We are country people. It is important to be proud of our countryside. A clean and tidy countryside is beautiful to see.
Priya was the CPRE’s overall winner for Key Stage 2. In her entry, she wrote:
I like to cycle through the lanes and I love to see the bluebells in the hedges. Sometimes I see litter which makes me sad.
Many of our pupils were highly commended in the Art Competition, titled ‘My Outdoors. Pupils were asked to present a favourite outdoor place, using any art medium. Some of our pupils were awarded ‘highly commended’ awards and two paintings, Nia and Theo, were selected for inclusion in the CPRE Calendar for 2021.
