A local glass artist came into St Mary’s to work with the staff and pupils.  Each pupil designed and made a glass tile with an underwater theme.  After creating a design, this was transferred onto special fabric using a light box.  The designs were then cut out using craft knives and filled with glass frit.  Stringers (glass tubing) and pieces of glass were added for effect, before the whole thing was fired in a kiln.  The finished results were of a very high standard and were displayed in school for everyone to enjoy.  A special thanks goes to the Helen Foundation who helped to make the day possible.  Please take a look at their website to find out more about this charity and the work it does with young people and the arts www.thehelenfoundation.org.uk
