ABOUT US

St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School is a warm, welcoming community with a strong foundation in faith, owned and supported by Buckfast Abbey Trust. As a proud member of Plymouth CAST—a multi-academy trust with thirty-five Catholic schools and one nursery across the Diocese of Plymouth—we’re dedicated to providing a rich, values-based education. You can learn more about Plymouth CAST here.

Our school is small and friendly, committed wholeheartedly to the wellbeing and safety of each child. For more details, please explore our School Safeguarding Information.

If you’d like to learn more about our Foundation Stage Unit, check out our Early Years section on our website, where you’ll find additional information and an application form. Hard copies of our policies are available upon request from the school office.

We’re incredibly proud to have received a letter from the Secretary of State for Education, recognising St. Mary’s as one of the top 1% of primary schools in England for reading and writing!

At St. Mary’s, we encourage every pupil to be hard-working, polite, cheerful, and helpful. Our creative and inspiring curriculum nurtures independence and resilience, supporting our pupils to become confident learners. Our dedicated staff work closely with parents and governors to create a supportive, caring community.
